Michael Joseph Hudak

Michael Joseph Hudak, Jr., 80, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday April 30, 2019 at the Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on April 16, 1939 in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Michael Joseph Hudak, Sr., & Darlene Elizabeth Swick Hudak.

Along with his parents, Mike is preceded in passing by his brother, John Hudak & daughter, Marsha Jill Hudak.

Mike was a bright and well educated man. He was a proud graduate of WV University, who went on to earn the role of Vice President for Consol Coal Company; and in 1982, became President of Pittston Coal Company, in Beckley WV. Following his retirement, he was employed by the US Government. In his free time, Mike was a member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Beckley WV, and member of the Moose Lodge, & Elks Lodge. Above all else, Mike was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Mike’s memory are his beloved wife of 53 years, Mrs. Mary Jo Loria Hudak of Myrtle Beach & formerly of Fairmont, WV; their sons, Michael (Wendy) Joseph Hudak, III, of Winston-Salem, NC & Mark (Lori) Jason Hudak of Beckley, WV; daughter, Michelle (Daniel) Ormandy of Shady Spring, WV; his adoring grandchildren, Danielle Ormandy, Michael Joseph Hudak IV, & Alex Ormandy; sister, Mary (William )Wallace of Carolina Shores, NC; his beloved pet, Napoleon; as well as nieces and nephews; a large, loving, extended family, and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Saturday May 11, 2019 at 11:00AM at St. Francis De Sales Parish, 626 S. Oakwood Ave. Beckley, WV 25801. The family will greet friends at the church from 10:15AM until the time of service. Burial of ashes will be held within the Sunset Memorial Park following the service.

At the request of the family, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers my be respectfully made in Mike’s name to the National Breast Cancer Foundation,  PO Box 678572 Dallas, TX 75267-8572.
