Michael Deprey Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce Michael J. Deprey, age 71, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away Aug. 7, 2025 at his home following a brief illness.

The youngest of seven siblings, Mike was born in Caribou, Maine on May 15, 1954 to Yvonne (Blanchette) and Elude Deprey. After moving to Southington, Connecticut where he spent most of his young life, he made lifelong friends, graduated from Southington High School and started his own family. Raising his family in Bristol, Connecticut, Mike was a devoted Catholic and former Eucharistic Minister at St. Anthony Church and a hard-working man. By trade, he was skilled in HVAC systems and started his own business, Mike’s Mechanical LLC, when he moved to South Carolina.

Mike had a deep appreciation for music ranging from sounds of the 70’s to U2, loved fishing and boating adventures with his best buddies, golf excursions with his brother, Mel and playing card games, especially cribbage and setback. Fiercely independent and true to himself, Mike lived his life and endured his death on his own terms. Those who knew him well will fondly remember his infectious smile, tight hugs, and boisterous laughter that drew people to him.

He leaves behind his two cherished daughters, Denise Sicotte and her husband Joe of Plantsville, Connecticut; Jennifer Deprey of Palm Bay, Florida; their mother Gloria DeFeo-Deprey of Southington; his beloved granddaughters Jazmyn Doherty and Madison and Delaney Sicotte; his sisters Muriel Deprey of Maryland, Mary Mae Forbes of Tennessee, and Marcia Schaake of Nevada; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, dear friends and his loyal feline companion, Screech.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Milton and Maurice Deprey, and his sister Marilyn (Deprey) Smith-Melanson, who likely all welcomed him home with open arms and a huge hug.
