Mauro M. Turso, 92, passed away Tuesday November 9, 2021 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on February 25, 1929 in Manhattan, New York to the late Mauro Turso & Laura Jaiobellis.
Along with his parents, Mauro is reunited is passing with his beloved wife, Angela Turso, and twelve siblings Rocco, Jimmy, Benny, Dominick, Vito, Marcy, Genny, Annie, May, Tessie, Lilly, and Anna.
Mauro proudly served our country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life, Angela Turso, and went on to become a skilled carpenter and business owner. When Mauro wasn't tinkering with his many projects, he spent time on his boat with family and friends, enjoyed clamming on Long Island, and took all his kids/nieces/nephews/neighborhood kids to the movie drive in on the weekends. When the time of raising children was over, Mauro enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City, NJ with his brother Vito, sister-in-law Helen and his sweetie Angela Turso. Above all Mauro relished time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed for the loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend he truly was.
Left to cherish Mauro’s memory are his adoring children, Lorraine Weckerle and husband, Steven of Murrells Inlet, Thomas "Tommy" Turso and wife, Mary of NY, & Arlene Archiello and husband, Joseph of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Danelle Weckerle, & Dayna Weckerle (boyfriend, Jarvis Bellamy); great-grandchildren, Tyana Woodard, Taysha Woodard (boyfriend, Joey Mosakowski), Dante Woodard, Darius Woodard, & Nickolas Gianni Rogers; great-greatgrandchildren, Naomi Kai Mosakowski, Koa Peter Mosakowski, & George "Ray Ray" Raylen Herbert, IV; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Funeral Mass in Celebration of Mauro’s life will be held on Monday November 15, 2021 at 11:00AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Ave. Garden City, SC 29576. Burial will immediately follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Hwy 544, Conway, SC 29526.
