Mary Jane Martin

Mary Jane Martin, 79, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. She was born on October 27, 1942 in Dillon, South Carolina, to the late Alton Thomas & Helen Thomas.

Along with her parents, Mary Jane is reunited in passing with her beloved husband, John Martin.

Mary Jane was a hardworking woman with a heart of gold. She worked for many years in banking. She started her banking career in Orangeburg as a Branch Manager & Assistant Vice President of First Union Bank. Mary Jane later moved to the beach, where she served at many different locations. In her free time, Mary Jane enjoyed gardening and spending the day at the beach. Above all else, Mary Jane loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Mary Jane’s memory are her daughters, Jonna Martin of Murrells Inlet & Sheila Martin of Orangeburg, SC; granddaughter, Lauren Jackson of Lexington, SC; sister, Nell Gasque (Joel) of Aynor, SC; beloved dog, Katie; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Mary Jane’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576, from 4:00PM until 6:00PM.
