MaryAnne Goetz

MaryAnne Goetz of Pawley’s Island South Carolina passed away peacefully with her loving family and friends by her side on Monday, September 21, 2020 at The Lakes at Litchfield. She was born September 4, 1941 in Detroit Michigan to the late Joseph and Helen Burke. MaryAnne provided her big brother the Reverend John Burke a birthday present by reuniting with him on his Birthday. Along with her parents and brother John she was preceded in death by her brother Dan and most recently by her daughter Anne Welsh.

MaryAnne graduated from St. Mary of Redford High School in 1959. She went on to become a Registered Nurse graduating in 1963 from Harper Hospital School of Nursing. Early in her nursing career she worked with newborns and later in her career she worked with the elderly after taking time in between to raise her four children with her husband Tom Goetz in Farmington Hills Michigan and Strongsville Ohio. She and Tom loved to go dancing together, an avid reader she could always be found with a book in her hand. The family spent many summer vacations traveling and camping across the United States. Always a faithful woman she has been active in the Catholic Church everywhere she has lived, most recently her faith led her to be an active parishioner at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church in Pawleys Island.

Left to cherish MaryAnne’s memory are her beloved husband of 58 wonderful years, Mr. Tom Goetz of Pawleys Island; their children and grandchildren, son Michael and Mary along with grandsons Joe, Leo and Jack; grandsons Bill (Trish), Ian, and Scott Welsh, granddaughter Marie Welsh; son James and Alicia with granddaughters Melanie, Samantha and Ashley; son Tom and Amy with grandson Gavin and granddaughter Jillian; Her brother Joe and Cindy Burke and many nieces and nephews and other family members.

A Celebration of MaryAnne’s life will be held at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church, 1633 Waverly Rd, Pawleys Island, SC 29585 on Saturday October 24, 2020 at 2pm. Her internment will follow in the church columbarium.
