Mary Catherine Lynch passed away in her home in Murrells Inlet, SC, on May 3, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Mary was born on December 31, 1947 in Bedford, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John and Hulda Heslop. She graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in 1965.
Following her high school graduation, Mary worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington DC. While living in the DC area, she met her husband Joseph, and moved to his home state of Connecticut.
She spent many years working in finance and accounting, and pursued higher education in accounting. Following her retirement in 2012, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of relocating to the Myrtle Beach area.
Mary’s love of travel took her to all 50 states, many Caribbean cruises, and several trips to Europe. She enjoyed her weekly mahjong and bunco games, was an avid reader, and usually had a jigsaw puzzle in progress on the dining room table. She loved hosting family and friends at her home, especially around Christmas when she baked cookies and set up her extensive miniature village around the tree. She volunteered her time with many organizations, including Mobile Meals, Neighbor to Neighbor, and St. Michael’s Church.
Mary is survived by Joseph Lynch, her loving husband of 52 years, son Steven Lynch (Cathy), daughters Carol Feyerabend and Jennifer Kaufmann (James), grandchildren Trystyn Lynch and Abigail, Lily, and Ryan Feyerabend, brothers Robert Heslop (Lorraine), John Heslop (Barbara), Tom Heslop (Erin), and sisters Evelyn Helm (Douglas) and Martha Ling (Gerald).
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Walker.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Murrell’s Inlet on June 17, 2022 at 10am.
