Mary Anne Elvis, 65, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday March 15, 2026 at her home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was born on September 19, 1960 in Timmonsville, South Carolina to the late Jack Dempsey Purvis & Mary Strickland Purvis.
Mary Anne was a bright and welcoming spirit with a heart of gold and a zest for life. She was a graduate of South Florence High School. Mary Anne’s sparkling personality made her a perfect fit at the Myrtle Beach Unemployment Office where she worked for many years until her well-deserved retirement. In her free time, Mary Anne was a member of Effingham Presbyterian Church where she made life-long friends. Above all else, Mary Anne loved her family with her whole heart. She will forever be remembered as the amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend she truly was. Mary Anne will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of getting to know her.
Left to cherish Mary Anne’s memory are her adoring husband, Barry Bernard Elvis of the home; sons, Brandon Elvis and his wife, Lindsay & Justin Elvis, all of Myrtle Beach; brothers Don (Pat) Purvis of Santee, SC & Michael Purvis of Bluffton, SC; sister, Vicky Turner of Florence, SC; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Mary Anne’s life will be held on Thursday March 19, 2026 at 6PM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will gather to greet friends following the service.
