Martha Sue Sellers

Martha Sue "Marty" Rule Sellers, 84, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 25, 1941, in Knoxville, Tennessee, daughter of the late James and Frances Rule.

Along with her parents, Marty is reunited in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Lynn Sellers; her granddaughter, Ashton Castleman "Cassie" Leigh Polston; her sister, Marylee Vaughan; her brother, William "Bill" Rule; and her half-brother, James "Jimmy" Rule.

She was a devoted educator who dedicated her career to teaching young children in early childhood education. A lifelong learner, she graduated summa cum laude from Francis Marion University and continued to inspire generations of students before retiring shortly after moving to the beach.

Marty had an enduring love of reading and studying history, especially European, British, and American history. She was passionate about the arts and found great joy in theater, musicals, dance, and ballet, having studied tap and ballet herself. Marty loved the Tennessee Volunteers and was supportive in all sports. Above all, she loved children and delighted in sharing her knowledge of history and life's simple joys with them.

Left to cherish Marty’s memory are her daughter, Frances "Mimi" Sellers White (Greg); her son, Bryan Matthew Sellers (Pam); and her daughter, Cynthia Lynn Sellers-Scotto (Steve). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Austin Edward Morris and Brandon Sellers; her great-grandchildren, Terrence Seward, Cierra Seward, Izacc Seward, Serenity Stephens, Gabriel Stephens, Kameron Stephens, Inasia Williams, and Jonah Morgan; and her great-great-grandson, Terrence Seward, Jr., along with many extended family members, dear friends, former students, and all whose lives she touched.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday July 16, 2026 at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens in Little River, SC.
