Martha Diane Connell, 72, passed away peacefully Sunday October 22, 2023 at her home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was born on January 7, 1951 in Durham, North Carolina to the late Edward Lee Powell, Sr. & Minnie Lillian Draughon Powell.
Along with her parents, Diane is reunited in passing with her brother, Edward “Sketter” Lee Powell, Jr. and her nephew, Billy Wayne Powell.
Diane was a creative person with an eye for art and beauty. She was a gifted sculptor and proudly owned and operated a ceramics store in Durham for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, -as many Powell family members did, and she was a lover of animals. Diane had an easy-going demeanor which made it easy to talk to her. She was a faithful woman who enjoyed bible study and would gladly offer help anyone in need. Above all else, Diane loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of getting to know her.
Left to cherish Diane’s memory are her adoring children, Kimberly Lee Connell of Jacksonville, NC, Carrie Ann Angstadt of Texas & Ronnie Eugene Connell also of Texas; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Powell (Carrie) of Roxboro, NC, Michael Powell (Kathy) Emerald Isle, NC; sister, Lee Ray Felton (Terry) of Haw River, NC; six nieces and nephews; her precious fur-baby, Cody; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
