Margaret Carter Altman Kinard, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the age of 91. Margaret was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Theodocia Powers Carter Eaddy and Ross Carter.
She grew up on her Grandmother’s farm in rural Hemingway South Carolina. Upon high school graduation, she attended Baptist Hospital Nursing School, where she graduated with her diploma in nursing. She embarked on a 50-year career as a registered nurse, spanning many staff nurse & supervisory roles in 10 SC counties. She eventually retired in Georgetown next to Duncan United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed worship & fellowship with her church family. In her later years, she especially enjoyed visiting with family & friends, gardening and making jewelry.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bill. She is survived by her sister, Yvette Buddin, daughter, Deneise Green (Jack); sons: Mike Altman and Dan Altman (Paula); daughter-in-law: Lisa Altman; grandchildren: Walt (Kim) Altman, Caroline McLaughlin, Morgan Owens, Justin Altman (Lauren), Bryan Altman, Lee Altman, Will Altman (Jenna); and great-grandchildren: Nate, Sean, Ian (Kim), Maddie, Connor, Sloan, and Wes.
Memorial service will be private. Her remains will be interred at Duncan United Methodist Church’s Memorial Garden.
