Makala Brooks Obituary

Makala Denise Brooks, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio & formerly of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, whose life was taken too soon by her own hand while battling depression- died at the youthful age of 31. She was born on December 6, 1991 in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Makala was a hardworking woman with a zest for life. She proudly graduated from Socastee High School Class of 2010- where she played Lacrosse. Makala later attended North Greenville University and Horry Georgetown Tech where she graduated with a Pharmacy Tech Degree. She was a faithful woman who was first Baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Summerville and later Baptized again in the waters of the Waccamaw River in Socastee. In her free time, Makala was a free spirit who relished making memories with family and friends. The active person Makala was, led her to become a professional paint-ball player for the WNXL-Team Destiny Team. She played for Punish'em paint-ball and had just been chosen for the women USA team to compete in France. Makala had an appreciation for the simpler things in life. She loved cats, the beach, listening to her favorite band, “Rainbow Kitten Surprise” and was not a fan of wearing socks or shoes. Above any and all else, Makala loved her family with her whole heart. She will be very deeply missed.

Left to cherish Makala’s memory are her adoring parents, Krystal Hancock and her husband, Billy of Murrells Inlet, SC; father, Michael Joseph Brooks of Summerville, SC; brother, Michael Brooks of Myrtle Beach; sister, Michelle Brooks of Summerville, SC; former step-father, Jacob Collins of Summerville, SC; maternal grandparents, Peggy and Michael Polomski of Summerville, SC & Mary and Gary Blalock of Newton, NC; paternal grandparents Robert and Lydia Brooks of Summerville, SC; as well as her beloved girlfriend and partner in life, Meghan Majchrowicz & her daughter, Maeve Sielma; and  many extended family members, friends, and her entire paintball family.

A funeral service will be held 12:00pm Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Low Country Community Church, 4430 Murrells Inlet Road, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
