Linda Terrell Mathews

Linda Terrell Mathews of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away peacefully, surrounded by so much love, on November 12, 2025.   Linda was born January 1, 1942 in Spartanburg, SC . She was the daughter of the late William Alonzo Terrell and the late Mary Gregory Terrell of Spartanburg, SC. She was raised my her grandparents, the late Ernestine and Thomas Brannon Terrell. Linda has 5  brothers and sisters. The late Stephen Terrell, the late Gail Walker , Gary Terrell( Mary), Lesslie Lee and David Terrell.

She met her lifelong husband Ron Mathews while attending the University of South Carolina and he preceded her in death. She has 3 Daughters, Teague Mathews of Murrells Inlet, SC,  Troye Mathews ( Janie) of Lyman, SC and Whitney Hewitt ( Lee) of Murrells Inlet, SC. Linda has 4 grandchildren, that she absolutely adored, and of course thought they were perfect. Travis Armour Spartanburg, SC , McKenzie Gramling (Trey), Gramling , SC , William Hewitt and Coleman Hewitt both of Murrells Inlet, SC. She was also blessed with 2 great grandchildren Camden and Jack Gramling. Family was everything to her. Her  family would also include her many dear friends. From the “Mermaids”, of which she was a founding member, to her friends at the Ratz (Creek Ratz). She never met a stranger and always was ready for a party. She always looked forward to her annual Fourth of July Boat Parade party, which was always a good time .  Even at NHC, where she resided due to her Dementia , she had residents and families fall in love with her and not to mention the wonderful staff who constantly told us “Linda stories” . A special thank you to the entire staff at NHC for all the love and special care you gave to our Mama. We can’t express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you enough for treating her like family!  To know Linda was to love Linda and she will be missed.

There will be a celebration of life at 3:00 pm, on December 11th, at Belin United Methodist Church. Please join us at Creek Ratz, following the service,  in Murrells Inlet.
