Laverna Gail Hylton (Coulter, Groves) 75, passed peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday October 1st, 2025, at her residence on Edgewood Dr in North Myrtle Beach. Lari, as she was known to friends and family, and Gumball by her 6 grandchildren, was born on January 7th, 1950, in Pearisburg, Virginia. Lari moved around during her time as a military wife, finally settling in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to be near her mother. During her time as a resident of SC, Lari worked in a plumbing supply office, at the NMB Rescue Squad, and then finally at Horry County E-911. During her time with the NMB Rescue Squad and Horry County E-911, Lari enjoyed a second persona as Boo-Boo the Clown. While in this role, Lari loved to teach the public, especially children, about safety as well as when and how to use 911. In 2019, after 19 years of service, she retired from Horry County E-911. During her well-earned retirement, Lari enjoyed local concerts with friends and cruising. Lari had a love for the ocean and walked the beaches as often as she could. Lari is preceded in death by her father John, her mother Thelma, her siblings Dreama and John, and her children Maya, Robert, and Erin. She is survived by a niece, Heather and her six grandchildren Kirsten, Robert, Zachary, Michael, Sam, and Amanda. There will be no funeral for Lari, as per her wishes, but there will be a memorial service and scattering of her ashes come Spring of 2026.
"You're not the same as you were before. You were much more... muchier. You've lost your muchness," Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass. Due to the vast loss in her life, Lari often said she was missing her “muchness”. We pray that Lari, now reunited with her loved ones, has recovered her “muchness” and will be there smiling and waiting for us on the Other Side.
