Laureen Elizabeth (Pyka) Russell

Laureen “Lori” Elizabeth Russell (Pyka), age 70, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, formerly of Dearborn, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026.

Born on October 1, 1955, in Garden City, Michigan, Lori was the beloved daughter of the late Ray and Ryta Pyka. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lee Borycz. 

Lori was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved. She especially enjoyed cooking for her loved ones and took great pride in making sure her husband was well cared for - a role she embraced with love, humor, and devotion. Her warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 

Lori is survived by her husband Richard Russell, her daughter, Clare Russell, her stepdaughters Jennifer Snyder (Chad) and Beth Kemp (John), her cherished grandchildren Owen and Abby Snyder, and her sister Lynn Smith. She also leaves behind many extended family members, neighbors, and dear friends who will remember her kindness and friendship. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday July 25, 2026, from 5pm to 7pm at Burroughs Funeral Home 3558 Old Kings Hwy Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. Lori’s love, generosity, and caring nature will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
