Laura Raye (Wesley) Ahrens

Our beautiful, Raye of Sunshine, Laura Raye Wesley Ahrens has gone to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. Surrounded by her loving family, she went peacefully on December 12, 2025. Raye was born on July 17, 1942 in Conway SC to the late Howard Fairfax Wesley and Mary Gila Wesley of Murrells Inlet SC. Their family has a very strong history and a great legacy in Murrells Inlet. Raye touched the lives of everyone that had the honor of knowing her. She always had a smile and lots of love to give from her vibrant and happy soul. Raye just simply brought joy everywhere she went. She loved to dance and the Carolina shag was her specialty. She was even named Miss Myrtle Beach in 1958. Later in life, Raye was especially known for her love of arts and crafts and her immaculate crochet. Her batch of homemade molasses cookies would melt in your mouth every time and she would always be looking her best with a fresh coat of red lipstick. Mostly Raye just loved being with family and friends.

Mrs. Ahrens had quite a life! She lived and traveled all over the United States and maintained a very successful cleaning business for years. Raye also worked for NASA and helped engineer the first digital watch. In addition to her parents and siblings (Patsy Lowes and Howard Wesley), she was predeceased by her loving husband Merton Frederick Ahrens and her grandson Brandon Salas. She leaves behind her daughter Lynnae Sandy Holland (Sandra Leoffler), her son Troy Wesley Holland (Stacey Mason Holland), 5 Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Raye tremendously touched all of our lives. The family will have a private celebration of her life later in the spring which was her favorite season of the year. We would also like to send a special thanks to her medical team at Amedysis Hospice Care. We are all so very thankful to all of you. 'Ma' we will carry your sunshine in our hearts forever.
