Kathryn Brown Obituary

May 14, 1943 - January 8, 2022

Kathryn Elizabeth Adorian Keefer Brown was the oldest daughter and second born of four children of Kathryn Elizabeth Grissinger Adorian and Stephen John Adorian.  She lived most of her childhood and early years of marriage in Forest Glen (Silver Spring), Maryland.  Kathryn was only eight years old at the time of her father’s death. Kathryn attended Montgomery County public schools in Maryland and then graduated from Peacham Academy in Vermont.  After high school, she attended the University of Pittsburgh and years later, as a mother of four, graduated with a BA degree from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA.

Kathryn loved adventure and travel and there were many trips within the United States, Bermuda, Europe and Israel.  In addition, she was passionate with her crafts, along with painting with acrylics, and pen and ink. She shared her love of arts and crafts with her grandchildren and many of her art pieces were given to family and friends.  She will be remembered for her warm hospitality and care for others.

Kathryn married William Llewelyn Keefer of Portsmouth, VA on February 19, 1965 and during their 46 year marriage had the joy of raising two sons, Ken and Stephen, and twin daughters Kim and Kayt. Kathryn and Bill also welcomed into their home Charles (deceased)  and Karen Stokes of UT.

Kathryn created a home where people from all walks of life were made to feel welcome and loved. She had a knack for decorating and was a creative cook. Kathryn was a much loved grandmother to eleven grandchildren who she adored.

Kathryn will be greatly missed by her brother Louis Arthur Adorian and sister Margaret (Peggy) Adorian Silverman, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2011 and her eldest son William Kenneth Keefer in 2021.

On January 12, 2014, Kathryn married Richard (Nick) Brown and moved to Conway, SC.  Nick and Kathryn had a happy marriage for 8 years, and Nick was a loving companion.  She passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior while at home.
