Katherine P Berko

Katherine P. Berko, 83, of Pawleys Island SC, formerly of the Connecticut Shoreline, passed away on October 22, 2025.  Kathy was a remarkable woman and cherished her role as matriarch of our family.  She was surrounded by her family and friends in her home at the time of her passing.  Kathy was born on October 7, 1942, in Salem, MA to the late Colman H. Pilcher and Joann Whigham Pilcher.  Kathy was preceded in death by her husband John J. Berko and brother Edward S. Pilcher II (Ted).  

Kathy graduated from the University of Connecticut with an education degree and was a Home Economics teacher before transitioning into real estate.  She was a vocal supporter of the Arts/Theater and volunteered for many years at The Kate in Old Saybrook, CT.  Kathy was an avid follower of the national news and read daily.  Her nurturing spirit was always present in her family's lives, going so far as to sit outside the fence at her grandson’s high school graduation during covid due to ticket limits. After following her son’s family South, Kathy settled into the Tradition community where she enjoyed participating in social activities with her “sorority girls”.

Left to cherish Kathy's memory are her son Kenneth Berko (Leigh Ann) and her beloved grandsons Cole and Ethan Berko.  Kathy is also survived by her brother Lawrence Pilcher (Laurie), her sister-in-law Barbara Pilcher, nieces Jessica, Annie, and Amanda Pilcher and nephew Jim Pilcher (Kennedy).
