Josephine Maryann (Alberti) Thomas

Josephine Maryann Thomas, 81, of Wachesaw Plantation for over 35 years; passed away peacefully of natural causes, on Thursday September 7, 2023 with her loving husband by her side. She was born on June 1, 1942 in Derby, Connecticut to the late Michael & Anna Ferla Alberti.

Along with her parents, Jo is reunited in passing with her daughter, Denise Verostek; and brother, Joseph Alberti.

Jo was a hardworking woman with heart of gold. She worked in the deli area of several supermarkets over the years and proudly retired as a manager. Jo and her husband purchased property and became Wachesaw Plantation Community Members in July of 1988. She was able to retire and in February of 1995, and became a permanent resident. In her free time, Jo could be found meticulously tending to her garden. He rose bushes were a staple in the community. Above all else, Jo loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Jo’s memory are her adoring husband, with whom she would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in December, Mr. Dennis “Denny” Thomas of Murrells Inlet; their children, Dr. Deborah Thomas and husband, Dr. Craig Ignacio of Pearland, TX, & Tracy Ross and her husband, Greg of New Britain, CT; grandchildren, David LeBlanc & Crystal Verostek; sister, Angelina Bowen of CT; brother, Michael Alberti and wife, Donna of CT; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

In accordance with Jo’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
