Joseph “Don” Paul Donald Grassie, 82, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday March 10, 2026, at his home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on December 3, 1943, in Dover, New Hampshire to the late Paul Grassie & Marguerite Gosslin Grassie.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a great grandson, Zander Russell Sutton.
Left to cherish Don’s memory are his adoring wife, Taunda “T” Grassie of the home; son, Bruce Grassie and wife, Gerallyn of Murrells Inlet; daughters, Bonnie Robinson of Myrtle Beach, Debbie Truss of Greenville, SC & Pam Grassie of New Hampshire; sisters, Annette Plante and Donna Mushinsky and her husband Chuck; ten grandchildren, Colby, Cory, Matt, Nick, Brittany, Brandon, Derick, TJ, Jordon and Sydney; seven great-grandchildren, Kenan, Brayden Ayden, Amayah, Lily, Victoria and Laila; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends, neighbors and patrons.
Don proudly served our country in the United States Army. Following his separation from the military, Don went on to own and operate Active Glass, Grassie Granite & Marble and Daddy Dzz. Don’s hard work was evident in all of his undertakings. Always one to stay busy and present in his community, Don was a proud member of the Elks Lodge where he served as Exulted Ruler for two terms. Don loved the outdoors and being on the golf course. He found like minded hobbyist and was a member of the “Golfsters.” Don was also a faithful man with a servant’s heart. He was a member of Discover Church, where he established deep connections. Above all else, Don loved his family with his whole heart. He relished making memories with every opportunity. Don will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his quick wit, bright smile, and the love he had for his family and friends.
A Celebration of Don’s life will be held 2:00pm Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
