Joseph J. Santillo

Joseph J. Santillo, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 3, 2022 at Prince George Healthcare in Georgetown, South Carolina. He was born on November 18, 1943 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Joseph & Rose Santillo.

Joe graduated high school in 1962 and went on to spend the next years of his life traveling the roads with Leaseway Transportation. Following his well-deserved retirement, Joe was able to enjoy the finer things in life. In his younger years, Joe relished time spent helping others. He was an excellent singer who graced the Moose lodge every Tuesday and Saturday night for karaoke. Joe found peace on the golf course with the wind in his hair and the sun warm upon his face. His love for the game brought him to work part time at Traditions Golf Course. The selfless person Joe truly was, would gladly offer the shirt from his back to anyone in need. Following his relocation to Pawleys Island in 2003, Joe became a member of St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church, where he proudly served as an usher.  During his retirement, Joe spent many of his Monday’s bringing food to the needy and to the Baskerville Food Pantry, often bringing car loads of food. Above all else, Joe loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his quick wit, his genuine caring demeanor and bright, welcoming smile.

Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his adoring wife with who they would have celebrated 9 years of marriage in October, Mrs. Judith “Judy” J. Mort of Pawleys Island; children, Kim Meninger, Kristen Carson and Joseph Santillo, III; five grandchildren; siblings, Edward Lynch, Sharon Stos, Debbie, Lisa, Janet Kolibus & William Lynch; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday May 11, 2022 at St. Paul Waccamaw United Methodist Church, 180 St Paul's Pl, Pawleys Island, SC 29585 with a reception to follow in Berly Hall.
