Joseph Frank Moorman, known to friends and family as “Joe” or “Joe Joe,” passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the age of 70.
Joe was born on July 31, 1955, in Washington, D.C., and carried a steady presence and quiet strength throughout his life. He built a respected career with Darcars Toyota, where he served as a Parts Manager and was known for his dedication, professionalism, and integrity.
Joe’s life was defined by the relationships he built and the routines he cherished. He especially enjoyed his weekly trips to the gun range, which were always followed by lunch with friends—simple traditions that brought him great joy. He also looked forward to Friday nights spent dancing at the Moose and found peace in long walks on the beach.
He also gave back to his community through volunteering at the hospital, where his quick actions helped save the life of someone experiencing a stroke—a testament to his character and willingness to step up when it mattered most.
Joe is survived by his son, Clayton (Jennifer) Moorman, and his daughter, Shenan Moorman. He was a proud grandfather to Kahlei, Kamrin, and Joseph (Clayton’s children), and Craige, Kyle, Taylor, and Allie (Shenan’s children). He is also survived by his sweetheart of 13 years, Theresa Petty, as well as his sister, Barbara Bryan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; his mother, Hattie; and his brother, John.
Joe will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 11am at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will gather to greet friends from 10am until the service.
