Jose Lopez Hervis

Jose Lopez Hervis, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Friday June 12, 2026. He was born on August 1, 1968 in Mexico son of Jose Lopez Mayroyal & Juliana Hervis Roman.

Jose was a hardworking man with a zest for life and a heart of gold. He was a skilled cook for Nance’s Creekfront Restaurant for many years and spent time in the kitchen at Wachesaw Plantation. His time in the food industry was met with lifelong friends and unforgettable experiences. He will forever be remembered as the heart of Nance’s kitchen and as the best oyster cook in the Inlet! Above all else, Jose loved his friends and family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Jose’s memory are his adoring wife, Aracely Hervis Reyes of Mexico; his sons, Jose Octavio Lopez Hervis & Luis Alberto Lopez Hervis both of Mexico; daughter, Delet; sisters, Yola Lopez Hervis, Irma Lopez Hervis, Yoya Lopez Hervis & Y Olga Lopez Hervis- all of Mexico; adoring niece, Sarai Covarrubias of Pawleys Island, SC; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Jose’s life will be held on Monday June 22, 2026 at 11am at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will gather to greet friends after the service. Burial will be held privately in Mexico at a later date.

At the request of the family, please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Donations in Jose’s name may be made directly to the family or to the funeral home to offset final expenses.
