John “Johnny” Edward Collins, III, 38, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday April 27, 2022 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on October 9, 1983 in Long Island, New York.
Johnny was a hardworking man with a heart of gold. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. Johnny was trained as a fire fighter for the USAF. While in New York, Johnny was an operating engineer for the city of New York. He was a proud member of the International Operating Engineers Local 15, NYC. In his free time, Johnny was a true sports fanatic. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially, football, baseball, hockey, and basketball. Johnny also enjoyed time spent at the gym and working out- he had aspirations of becoming a personal trainer to help others. Above all else, Johnny loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his love for his family, the amazing meals he’d cook, his bright smile and infectious laughter.
Left to cherish Johnny’s memory are his mother, Denise E. Williams and husband, Brian of Murrells Inlet; father, John E. Collins, Jr. of Melville, NY; Sister Kathleen Collins Globuschutz (Frank) of Huntington Station, NY, Paternal Aunt's Noreen Cavara of West Cherster, PA, Doris Tobin of Holbrook, NY, Carol Murray of Bellmore, NY, Aunt and Uncle James & Elizabeth Collins of Hattiesburg, MS, Maternal Aunt's & Uncle's Doug & Beth Murphy of Sussex, NJ, Dale Murphy godmother, Janice Brincat (Eddie), Ken Murphy, Jim & Shery Mills of Virginia Beach, VA, Joe & Marlene Mills of W. Hempstead, NY; numerous aunts and uncles; twenty four first cousins; as well as an army of loving and supportive friends and neighbors.
Johnny is reunited in passing with his maternal grandparents, Lucille & James Mills and paternal grandparents, John & Doris Collins; uncles David Mills and Michael “Robby” Mills. Ken Cavara godfather.
A Celebration of Johnny’s life will be held on Thursday May 5, 2022at 1:00PM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Ave. Garden City, SC 29576.
The family will gather to greet friends on Wednesday May 4, 2022 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 from 1:00PM until 3:00PM and again from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. A prayer service will be held at 7:30PM.
