John Powell Obituary

John Curtis Powell, 60, passed away peacefully Friday May 10, 2019 at his Hemingway residence.

Born in Hemingway, Mr. Powell was the son of the late Dewey M. Powell, Jr. and Juliette Morris Powell. From an early age he enjoyed working on cars which was only over shadowed by his love for the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his sons, Chad Powell and his wife Meredith Welch Powell of Johnsonville; Jon Curtis Powell of Johnsonville; granddaughter, Lillian Reese Powell; siblings, Vickie Baxley and her husband Larry Baxley of Georgetown; Dewey “Bubba” Powell and his wife Melinda Powell of Hemingway; Melody McGee and her husband Jackie McGee of Florence; Tammy Stone of Hemingway; Walt Powell of Pamplico; several nieces and nephews.

The Memorial Gathering will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Rose Hill Baptist Church, 4572 County Rd S-22-6, Georgetown, SC 29440.
