John L. Gross, Sr.

John L. Gross, Sr., 91 of Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Grand Strand Health Care.

Born in Port Allen, LA, Mr. Gross was the son of the late Fred J. Gross and Mary B. Gross.  A proud United States Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean War, Mr. Gross was a Minister for the Southern Methodist Church and worked as pharmacist for the Medicine Shoppe in Georgetown and CVS.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Gross is predeceased by his wife and the love of his life for 62 years, Mildred Rose Gross.

Survivors include his sons, John L. Gross, Jr. and his wife Paula, Myrtle Beach; Jeffery N. Gross and his wife Cathy, Knoxville, TN; Jason C. Gross and his wife Sherri,  Louisville, MS; grandchildren, Lindsey Collins and her husband Larry, WA; Matthew Gross, TN; Laurie Marks and her husband Joshua, MO; Lauren Gross, Myrtle Beach; Natalie Marks and her husband Justin, MO; 9 great grand children; brother in law, John Paul McNeil, Jr. and his wife Linda, LA; sister in law, Sylvia Craig and her husband Thad, TN; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, August 8, 2019 at South Strand Assembly of God in Murrells Inlet with interment and military honors following in Southern Palms Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach.  The family will receive friends at the church 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday August 7, 2019 and one hour prior to the service time on Thursday.
