John Carl Gindek, age 88, passed away peacefully Sunday October 10, 2021 at his Murrells Inlet residence. John was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in January, 1933, and lived in that area until retiring from Southern Connecticut Gas Company and moving to Murrells Inlet, S.C. in 1993. He had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, had been a member of the Loyal Order of the Elks and was currently a member of the Surfside Beach Lodge 2351 of the Moose.
John was predeceased by his wife, Betty Lou. By his side for 8 years was his loving companion, Ruth. He is survived by his sister Mary Ann Baudouin (David) of Connecticut. He is also survived by 3 children: Donna Rees and David Gindek (Laura), of Connecticut, and Brian Gindek in California. John also cherished his 3 grandchildren: David Gindek, Jr., Megan D’Angelico (Mike), and Katie Giordano (Josh), as well as 6 great grandchildren: April, Audrey, Kadence, Maggie, Joey, and Hannah.
A Memorial Service was held Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Socastee United Methodist Church, Myrtle Beach, SC followed by a Celebration of John's life in the Church's Fellowship Hall.
On Sunday November 21, 2021 at 2:00pm, there will be a service celebrating the life of John Gindek at First Church Congregational of Fairfield (148 Beach Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824). Following the service there will be time to meet with family members at the church and share fond memories of John. Please note, masks must be worn inside the church.
