John Edmund Rogers, 89, passed away peacefully Sunday April 26, 2026, at his home in Murrells Inlet, SC.

Born in Nichols SC, John was the son of the late John R. Rogers and Katie L. Rogers.

John was of the Baptist faith who enjoyed a good conversation, especially with his neighbors, friends and family.  He enjoyed working in his yard and was known for being there when his friends needed him.  An avid mechanic, John, enjoyed getting clams and oysters out of the creek.

In addition to his parents John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Effie H. Rogers, his daughter, Valarie L. Rogers, his son, Jonathan Rogers and 3 sisters and a brother.

Survivors include his daughters, Angela Barrios and Rena Ordaz; grandchildren, Dewayne Cusack, Robin Rogers, Robert (Bubba) Rogers (Winters), Richard Dinkins, Johnny Rogers (Samantha), Paige Williamson (Zachary), Sebastian Williamson (Gwen), Saul Gildo, Layla Ordaz; great grandchildren, Madison Silva, Ellana Dominquez, Bailey Dominguez, Easton Rogers, Elijah Rogers, Johnathan Dinkins, Aubrey Dinkins, Jethro Williamson, Robert Gildo, Natalie Gildo, Denise Gildo, Anna Cusack, Paislynn, Brilynn, Colsen; and great great grandchild, Aubrey Gildo.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 5:30 PM Saturday May 9, 2026, at the family’s residence.
