John Charles Cluney, Jr

John Charles Cluney Jr., best known as “Big John,” passed away the morning of February 20, 2021, in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. John was born on March 10, 1972, in Buffalo, New York. He was passionate about music, family, Buffalo sports and photography.  He could often be found exploring Huntington Beach, camera in hand, getting lost in the trees. 

John spent most of his adult life in central Illinois where he found a friend wherever he went.  As a body-piercer he was a familiar face and inviting personality in the tattoo shops where he established a family of friends.  John also made a profound impact on the local music scene.  His larger than life presence onstage combined with his supportive and warm personality offstage made him a gentle giant in the eyes of those around him.  He often noted his time with Grim being some of his fondest memories. 

John was preceded in death by his father Jack, grandfather Edward, grandmother Edna, uncles James and Thomas, aunt Donna, cousins Jeremy Eich and Justine Eich.  John is now reunited with his beloved Ms. Nubbins.

John will be missed every day by his loving mother Evelyn, sister Carrie Lynn Taylor and her husband Steven, nephew Dyami who was his favorite person, aunt Pat Peacock, aunt Helen Reardon (Dan), uncle Ray Chapman (Mary Jo), uncle David Chapman (Treann), cousins Larry Eich, James Reardon, Shawn Reardon, Jeff Reardon (Heather), Lauren Chapman, and extended family.

No arrangements are planned at this time for the safety of family and friends during the COVID-19 pandemic.
