John William Anninos, 80, of Murrells Inlet, SC and formerly of Chicago, Illinois & New York City, New York; passed away peacefully on Saturday July 18, 2026 while at Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on November 28, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John & Dorothy Cummings Anninos.
Along with his parents, John is reunited in passing with his son, John Anninos, Jr.
John was a hardworking man with a heart of gold and a zest for life. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1964 until 1966. Following his honorable separation from the military, he worked for the New York City Police Department as a Lieutenant. Upon his retirement from law enforcement, John went on to work for Sprint, as a corporate security manager for many years where he made life-long connections and learned skills that would translate later in life. He was an active member of Moose International, NYPD Lieutenants Benevolent Association & the Superior Officers Council. Following his well-deserved retirement and relocation to Murrells Inlet, John was able to enjoy the quiet life. In his free time, he could be found on the golf course. Above all else, he loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish John's memory are his wife, Mrs. Susan Marie Benicasa Anninos of the home in Murrells Inlet; daughter Laura Anninos of Denver, Colorado; granddaughters, McKenzie Anninos & Charlotte Anninos both of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania; grandson, Travis Anninos of Wenonah, New Jersey; brother, Philip Anninos of Palm Coast, Florida; sister, Penelope DeBarge of Palm Cost, Florida; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
