Joe Hamilton Brewster

December 20, 1944 – January 8, 2026

Joe Hamilton Brewster, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 8th at Waccamaw Hospital after a seven- year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia with his wife, Joy Brewster, by his side.

Joe was born on December 20, 1944, in Fort Walton Beach FL, to the late Joe H. Brewster and Elizabeth Cronin Hinz. He is also preceded by his daughter Jennifer Brewster and his Stepfather Robert Hinz.

Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his wife Joy Brewster of Pawleys Island SC; stepson, Jason Rich of Oslo Norway; son-in-law Josh Natale; brothers Robert Hinz of Washington, J.B. Hinz of Kansas and William Bruce Hinz of Kansas, along with their wives, sister and brother in-laws and numerus nieces and nephews.

He was referred to as the miracle patient for the seven years he spent in remission. Joe lived a life defined by his dedication to his wife and family. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was proud of his service and loved his country. He was a lifetime entrepreneur, as CEO, he owned and operated Brewster, Grove and Associates. After retiring he began Keystone Restoration’s in PA. Joe shared 37 years of his life with his wife Joy Johnson Brewster. Their relationship was one of deep love and devotion. They have lived in Pawleys Island for nine years.

Joe was a member of Pawleys Island Community Church where he loved volunteering and serving in the church. Joe had numerous interests like cars, planes, and boating. He really enjoyed traveling every chance he had with his family. Joe also would work on his marksmanship at his local shooting range.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2:00pm at Pawleys Island Community Church Chapel, 10304 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island SC, 29585.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that you make donations in Joe’s honor to the Pawleys Island Community Church sewing Ministry.
