Joan (Mahon) Barry

Joan Mahon Barry, 90, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday December 19, 2025 while at Magnolia Bridge Assisting Living in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. She was born on August 4, 1935 in Arlington, Massachusetts to the late John & Catherine White Mahon.

Along with her parents, Joan is reunited in passing with her beloved husband, John "Mike" Barry; sons, Michael & Paul Barry; and brothers, Richard "Dick" Mahon, Thomas Mahon and James Mahon.

Joan was a hardworking woman with a heart of gold and a zest for life. She was a skilled real estate agent for many years whose sparkling personality made homebuyers comfortable in their decision making. Her eye for detail and knack for decorating made any house feel like a home. In her free time, Joan found peace in crafting. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, drawing, painting, ceramics and overall, just keeping her hands busy. Above all else, Joan took her job as a mother as a mission from God. She worked tirelessly to ensure her loved ones where well taken care of. Joan truly loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Joan’s memory are her adoring son, Kevin Barry and wife Ann of Myrtle Beach; sister, Ann Powers of Arlington, MA; brother, John Mahon and wife, Ruth of FL & MA; her beloved and spoiled dog, Rosie- who Kevin is now caring for; as well as an army of nieces, nephews and cousins;  a very large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Joan’s life will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

At the family’s request, please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Donations in Joan’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Tunnels to Towers.
