Jimmie E. Merrill

Jimmie E. Merrill, 81, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was born October 11, 1944, in Charlotte, NC, the son of the late Marlyn Merrill and Mary Baker Merrill.

In addition to his parents, Jimmie is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Strong (Olen) and Helen R. (Vilho) Lehto; his nieces and nephews, Donna Boynton, Danny Strong, Sheila Weber, Robert Lehto; great niece, Mary Prouty and great nephew, Ryan Bidwell.

Jimmie is survived by nieces and nephews, Helen (Lehto) Prouty, Jimmie Lehto, Debbie Palmer, Doreen (Keith) Carlyle, Doug (Cindy) Strong, Dennis Strong (Laura), Dawn Lehto; several nieces and nephews; also several great nieces and nephews; as well as adopted grandkids, John Michael and Jesse Tanas.

Jimmie worked at JJ Newberry in Ithaca and retired from Cornell University. He volunteered at the local soup kitchen (library and food pantry) and was a member of the Moose Club where he also volunteered.

Pastor Hammons will be doing a graveside service at Garrett Manderville Cemetery in Slaterville, New York for family and friends. The date and time will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
