Jesse Morriss Hales, Jr.

Jesse Morriss Hales, Jr., 77, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at his home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. He was born on December 27, 1944 to the late Jesse M. Hales, Sr. and Myrtle Wilson Hales.

Along with his parents, Jesse is reunited in passing with his beloved wife of over 29 years, Mrs. Eileen Alana Hales; and two sisters, Cathy Hales and Bonnie Esber.

Jesse proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, Jesse went on graduate from MUSC College of Pharmacy, he worked for Revco, Oceanlakes Pharmacy and retired from CVS Pharmacy. Jesse attended Belin UMC in Murrells Inlet.

Left to cherish Jesse’s memory are his sons, Steven Henderson and his wife, Mary Beth of Wilmington, NC and Kevin Hales and his wife, Sarah of Charleston, SC; four daughters, Sherri Henderson-Grant and her husband, Timothy of Surfside Beach, SC, Colleen Lewis and her husband, Wayne of Surfside Beach, Jessica Hales and her partner, Anthony Clement of Norfolk, VA, and Melanie Raynor and her husband, Keith of Naggs Head, NC; thirteen grandchildren, Allenisha Allen, Hunter Henderson and his wife, Taylor, Alexandra Caldwell and her husband, Anderson, Josie Thompson and her partner, Joe LaBell, Jake Raynor, Jesse Raynor, Bo Raynor, Walker Henderson, Ella Raynor, Stevie Henderson, Ava Raynor, Isabelle Lewis and George Hales; and three great-grandchildren, Taneijah, Joslyn and Edwin.

A celebration of Jesse’s life will be held with military honors 4:00pm Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Belin United Methodist Church, 4182 Highway 17 Business Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will receive friends Friday, May 12, 2023 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 from 6:00-8:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jesse’s name may be made to Belin Memorial United Methodist Church Missions to honor veterans of the United States Military.
