James "Jimmy" Gladden, Jr. Obituary

James E. Gladden, Jr., 64, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 15, 2021 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on January 8, 1957 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late James E. Gladden, Sr., & Leoni “Noni” Haring Gladden.

Jimmy served our country in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he went on to work as a technician for several companies in the area over the years. He also had an electrical license and was a general handyman, but most knew Jimmy as a local musician.  In his free time, he enjoyed listening to and playing music, fishing, reading, and making memories with friends and family. He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Jimmy’s memory are his significant other of many years, Wanda Driggers of Murrells Inlet. Three children and four grandchildren from first marriage to Sarah McCarter Gladden of  York: daughters Chelsie Gladden of & Lindsay Gladden Capistran (Otto & Luciana); son, James “Mac” Gladden (Mikey and Jax). Four siblings, seven nieces and nephews: brothers, Danny Gladden (Shannon, Christie, Jennifer) of Isle of Palms & Tommy Gladden (Joey & Jerry) of McClelenville; sisters, Linda Gladden of Texas & Carol Gallagher (Sean & Danny) of California; a large, loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

Jimmy requested no formal funeral services and to be spread at sea so a celebration of his life will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
