James Walter Martin 71, of Murrells Inlet SC, formerly of Monroe NC. Passed away on Sunday September 21, 2025, at Arbor landing in Pawleys Island SC with his wife by his side.
James Walter Martin was born in Marysville, TN on June 27, 1954, to the late Walter Hugh Martin and Carolyn Joyce Getzmann.
Left to cherish James’s memory are his Wife Suanne Martin of Murrells Inlet SC; Daughter Amy Croley of Murrells Inlet SC; Sisters Rebecca Tyndall (Chuck) of Lancaster SC, Nancy Smith (Bob) of Granite Falls NC; Brother Scott Martin of Millersburg OH; Sister and brother in-law Jeanne and John Kosartes of Murrells Inlet; and 1 nephew and 4 nieces with numerous loving cousins. And with so many friends but in particular, Mike Backley of Seabrook SC, and Doug Jackson of Waxhaw NC.
Jim was a lover of nature, walking in the woods and fishing at the outer banks. He loved to collect lots of “stuff”, But in particular he would get walking sticks and ladies’ antique hats that he would gift at Christmas. You could also find him taking time to do something he loved to do by playing a round of golf.
Memorial donations can be made in Jim’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association https://donorservices.alz.org/ or The Sierra Club https://act.sierraclub.org/. Or if you would like to plant a tree in your own backyard to remember Jim. Or by donating to a charity of your choice.
Services are scheduled for Saturday October 18, 2025 at 11:00am at Burroughs Funeral Home 3558 Old Kings Hwy Murrells Inlet SC, 29576 843-651-1440
Special thanks to Traditions Hospice especially Lori Fetterhoff who was his caregiver and who loved “James” and was his forever friend.
