James R. Christopher, 82, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday July 8, 2026 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on January 24, 1944 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina to the late George M. Christopher & Kathleen Bright Christopher.
Along with his parents, James is reunited in passing with his brothers, Ben Christopher & Felston Christopher and sister, Jean Drake. James is also reunited on the rainbow bridge with Toby, Dillon, Pocket, Yoda, Boomer, and Beau.
Jimmie proudly served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard for more than seven years. Following his military service, he built a successful career as the owner and operator of Carolina Carriers- a transport company, where he formed many lasting friendships and professional relationships. A hardworking and devoted family man, Jimmie was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to providing for those he loved. He was a proud father who treasured his daughters and dedicated his life to caring for his family. His love for them was evident in everything he did. He had a lifelong passion for automobiles, especially classic cars, old Chevrolets, and Ford trucks. Whether driving them, admiring them, or talking about them with friends, cars always held a special place in his heart. Jimmie will be remembered as a loving father, devoted provider, loyal friend, and proud veteran.
Left to cherish Jimmie’s memory are his adoring wife of over 58 years, Mrs. Anne Lankford Christopher, daughters Kelley C Britton and Melanie C High and son in-law, Dennis High. Grandchildren, Rowdy W High, Tahoe R Foster, Christopher J “CJ” Moore, Kelsey A High, and Gage W Moore. He is also survived by his sister Chris Clarke and sister in law Lois”Dinky”Christopher.
A Celebration of Jimmie’s life will be held privately.
