Jacob John Ketschek, Sr.

Jacob John Ketschek, Sr., passed away peacefully Monday May 9, 2022 at his Myrtle Beach residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Atlantic City, NJ, Mr. Ketschek was the son of the late Jacob James Ketschek and Grace Naomi Champion Ketschek.  Known as The Commander, Mr. Ketschek was a retired Sergeant with the Pleasantville, NJ Police Department where he was in charge of the K-9 unit. He spoke fondly of his previous employment with the Arthur Henry Construction Company and he enjoyed fixing firearms and fishing.  A tinkerer, Mr. Ketschek always wanted the first opportunity to fix things before having to call a repairman. He served proudly in the National Guard and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Pleasantville, NJ. Mr. Ketschek was an animal lover and animals just seemed to naturally gravitate to him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ketschek is preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Barbara Purdy Ketschek and his brother, Robert Ketschek.

Survivors include his daughters, Suzanne Ketschek, Absecon, NJ; Jacqueline (James) Ketschek Poley, Port Republic, NJ; sons, Robert (Carolyn) Ketschek, Murrells Inlet, SC; Jacob (Amy) Ketschek, Jr., Port Republic, NJ; sister, Elizabeth (Craig) Rummler, Boone, NC; grandchildren, Katie Ketschek, Madison Ketschek, Jordan Penza, Jacob Ketschek III, Sydney Ketschek and Stella Ketschek.

Services will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
