Jack Boyd, Jr, 86, of Murrells Inlet, SC- was born on February 26, 1934. He was a man of intellect, hard work and faith. Supported by family, he died peacefully on Tuesday July 21, 2020, the day before his 42nd Wedding Anniversary.
Jack was born the oldest of four children, born to Jackson & Bernice (Kelly) Boyd in Pamplico, South Carolina. Along with his parents, Jack is preceded in passing by his younger brothers, Bill Boyd and his wife Liz & Bob Boyd and his wife, Jean; as well as his sister, Mary Ann Morton.
Jack proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and served as a gunner on B36 Bomber. Following his honorable discharge, Jack was able to enjoy the finer things in life. He graduated from Wingate & East Carolina University and went on to become a skilled and dedicated teacher for many years. Jack retired from Horry County School District as Principal and Administrator of South Conway Elementary and was a very active and proud Gamecock Fan. Jack as an active member Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet. His love for the parish and community granted him the opportunity to function as a chairman for the annual BBQ fundraiser, every year. He will be deeply missed.
In 1978, Jack married Linda Faye Brewer. Jack’s memory will be cherished by his beloved wife and children, Stetson Boyd and his wife, Cindy of Chattanooga, TN; one loving grandchild, Joseph & wife Racquel along with three loving great grandchildren, Xander, Yasmen & Zara; Shelby Gerald of Conway & Stacey Gerald and her husband, Mitchell of Conway, SC; two loving grandchildren, Hunter & Shelby Gerald of Conway; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
Due to the on-going pandemic, a celebration of Jack’s life will be held privately.
