Herbert Kenneth Wry

Herbert Kenneth Wry, 87, of Murrells Inlet, formerly of Trumbull, CT., died Saturday, December 18, 2021. He was born in Springfield, MA, to the late Kenneth and Lula Wry.

Herbert was an active golfer who created the Congamond Golf Classic in Southwick, MA. He was the co-owner of Bloody Knuckles Construction Company and enjoyed eating peanuts and m&m’s. Herbert served his country as a Lt. in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Belin United Methodist Church and a tenor in the church choir. He was also a Mason, Shriner, Commissioner of the Nichols, CT Fire Department, rotary club member, a graduate of the University of Connecticut and a Senior Partner of CCM Insurance Company in Trumbull, CT.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Priscilla Curtis Wry of Murrells Inlet, SC; four sons, John (Joan) Platt of Bethesda, MD, Kenneth G. Platt of Murrells Inlet, SC, James (Susan) Platt of St. Simmons, GA and Craig (Mary) Platt of Trumbull, CT; two daughters Kimberly (Craig) Hewitt of Ararat, VA and Karen Brewer of West Hartford, CT; ten grandchildren, Katy, Jody, Amber, Maryann, Jessica, Christopher, JohnMichael, Robert, Adam, Brian; three great grandchildren, Annabelle, Theo and Cora.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Belin UMC, 4182 US-17 BUS, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:30 am. to 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Belin United Methodist Church Choir Fund.
