Helen Bruzzese

On Wednesday, November 8th, Helen Tarquinio Bruzzese, at the age of 88, of Garden City, South Carolina, formally of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born on February 3rd, 1935, in Sewickley, PA, to her parents Carmen and Helen Campisino Tarquinio.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, best friend, and love of her life of 66 years, James Bruzzese, also named by her as, Bruzz, Jimmy, George, and Papa, of Garden City, South Carolina, her four daughters, Joan (Mike) Grubb, Patricia Bruzzese of Garden City, South Carolina, Terri (Steve) LaPorta of Charleston, South Carolina, and Gina (Jamie) Battles, of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her loving sister Betty (Tom) Zelinsky of Moon Township, Pennsylvania, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters in law.

Helen lived a full life filled with love and so many accomplishments. In addition to being a wonderful wife and loving mom to 4 daughters, she devoted much of her time to the church. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for all her life where she served as eucharistic minister and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America.

Helen obtained her associate degree where she then went on to serve as an Executive Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Robert Morris University for 27 years. When Helen wasn’t working, she loved to express her creativity through arts and crafts, painting, and drawing. She also loved fashion, shopping, and going to the casinos with friends and family. Helen loved to bake and host all of her loved ones, sharing good food and conversation around her table. Above all else, the most important things to Helen were her faith and her family.

Helen had a love for angels and had a very impressive collection of them throughout her home. She is now watching over us as one of our angels.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 13th from 4:00-6:00pm at Burroughs Funeral Home at 3558 Old Kings Highway Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. Friends and family are welcome to visit. A mass is to be held at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Garden City, South Carolina on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 10:00am.
