Glenn Scott Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenn Michael Scott, who passed away peacefully in his home on June 10, 2026, at the age of 71, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Glenn was born on January 27, 1955, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Neil Scott and Madeline McConaghy. He grew up in Oakland, New Jersey, spent 30 years in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, and eventually retired to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Following a long and dedicated career as a branch manager for Hostess and Wonder Bread, Glenn embraced retirement and took great pride in serving as Commander of Sons of The American Legion Squadron 178.

A devoted father, brother, and friend, Glenn was known for his strength, perseverance, vibrant social life, and ability to find humor and joy even in life’s most difficult moments. He had a way of bringing people together, making everyone feel welcome and ensuring every occasion was a little more fun.

Above all else, Glenn loved his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, classic rock music, beach days, trivia nights, bowling, and binge-watching just about every television show imaginable. He will be remembered for his Ozzy Osbourne “Crazy Train” ringtone, his ability to make friends wherever he went, and his unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and fun to all who knew him.

Glenn is survived by his daughter, Jessica Scott Whitney and her husband, Adam; his son, Joseph Scott and his wife, Melissa; his siblings, Neil (Cheryl), Keith (Donna), Brian (Donna), Kathy Vollmin (Wayne), Kevin (Meg), and Charlie (Carolyn); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his father, Neil Scott; his mother, Madeline McConaghy; and his nephew, Steven Scott.

While Glenn’s family knew this day would eventually come, the loss remains profound. They find comfort in knowing that he left this world surrounded by love and with the knowledge of just how deeply he was cherished.

In accordance with his wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at ACME Bar & Grill in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, on July 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All who knew and loved Glenn are welcome to attend.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the teams at Tidelands Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Laura, Amanda & Jennifer; his oncologist, Dr. Burbage; the teams at MUSC and Waccamaw Hospital; and Glenn’s many friends and family members for the compassion, care, and support they provided throughout his journey.

In lieu of flowers, please spend an afternoon doing something Glenn loved or make a donation to a charity of your choosing in his memory.
