George Kenneth Sheppard, 56, of Myrtle Beach, formerly of Indian Land, SC, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020. Born in Melbourne, FL. On December 20, 1963, George was a son of Linda Hutzler Sheppard and the late George W. Sheppard.
A proud veteran, George served in the US Army. A lover of the great outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. George was fond of old cars, racing and country music. He was a member of the Moose Lodge where spending time with his Moose friends was always enjoyable.
A true family man, George felt that time spent with family was most important, whether traveling or just hanging out with his wife and daughter sightseeing and dreaming of fancy houses. He was always willing to lend a helpful hand to his family and anyone else in need. The father of a CAC swimmer, George rarely missed a swim meet with Camila and he was proud of all her accomplishments.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Minerva D. Sheppard; daughters, Camila G. Sheppard, Anays (Alexander) Sheppard; son, Kenneth J. Sheppard; brothers, Andrew D. Sheppard, Charles (Becky) Sheppard; and sister, Sheila (Bob) Nix. He is also survived by two grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. A graveside service with military honors will be held in Florida National Cemetery on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.
The family will accept flowers and for those wishing to donate, the family requests they be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
