George W. Roepe, Jr., 89, recently of Conway, South Carolina, and formerly a long-time resident of Exton, Pennsylvania passed away on March 25, 2021. He was the husband of Dorthy (Stanfill) Roepe with whom he spent 67 years of marriage. He was the son of the late George Sr. and Harriett Roepe. George was born in Queens, New York. He attended Johnstown, Pennsylvania high school and joined the Navy at age 17. He served in the Korean conflict and continued serving for 10 yrs.
George met the love of his life while stationed in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from the Arkansas State University and worked as an engineer. The family moved to Pennsylvania where they lived for 54 yrs before relocating to South Carolina last year.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Mary Bricker (Gary) of Kentucky, and Laura Sousa (Fernando) of South Carolina. He also has two granddaughters, Jan Ainger (Tim) and Meagan Bricker along with two great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Dunmoyer, his son, Gordon Roepe, and his brother Theodore Roepe.
George loved traveling, reading, and was a skilled woodworker. His passion was building clocks and lifelong learning which led him to volunteer in the Chester County (PA) Library system for over 20 yrs.
