George Lee Lipps, 73, of Bradford, PA, passed away peacefully with his loving wife Suzanne and children by his side on Tuesday November 16, 2021 at their vacation home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born in Degolia, Pennsylvania to the late John B. & Margaret Berray Lipps.
Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Lipps.
George proudly served our country after being drafted to the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a well-trained radio operator. Following his honorable discharge and return to Pennsylvania, George became a skilled diesel mechanic who could work on any engine put in front of him. In his free time, George loved to bowl. He not only coached bowling, but also served on state and local board of directors. He enjoyed golfing and cooking massive meals for family gatherings. He was famous for his meatballs. George was a car enthusiast and enjoyed Cadillacs. He loved to take family vacations and spent his final years traveling with his wife.
George loved his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his zest for life, quick wit and sense of humor.
George is survived by his best friend and wife of over 25 years, Suzanne M. Lipps of Bradford, PA; his children, David Lipps and wife Chelsea of Bradford, PA, James "Jimmy" Connelly, III of Bradford, PA, Melissa "Missy" Connelly and boyfriend Zachary Riesberg of Des Moines, IA, Gina Lipps and her fiancée, Timmy Newhouse of Bradford, PA & Mikie the Cat; brothers- Ben Lipps of Raleigh, NC, Joseph Lipps and wife, Kathy of Bradford, PA, & James Lipps and wife, Kay of Dallas, TX; sister, Meme Ransom and companion, Bob Schweickert of Allegany, NY; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of George’s life will be held in Bradford, PA at a later date. Those details will be announced when finalized.
