George Vincent Hawk, Jr., 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 29, 2020 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was born on October 23, 1949 in Washington, DC to the late George Vincent Hawk, Sr. & Mildred Wolfrey Hawk.
George was a hardworking man with a passion for helping others. He would gladly offer the shirt from his back to help anyone in need. He had a successful career as a police officer for the Washington DC Police Department, badge #0776. While working for the department, George was assigned to the Special Operations Division (SOD) and rode motorcycle #4. He served as an escort in numerous motorcades during several Presidential inaugurations. Following his well-deserved retirement, George was able to enjoy the finer things in life. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Surfside Beach Moose Lodge as well as a member of the Murrells Inlet Masonic Lodge 368 and was a 32nd Degree Master Mason. Above all else, George loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish George’s memory are his son, Brian Wayne Davis and his wife, Jolyn of Crofton, MD; daughter, Margaret Cox and her husband, Ben of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Logan & Miles; brother, Arnold Burley and his wife, Lisa of Owen’s, MD; sister, Allein Eul and her husband, Thomas of Swan Point, MD; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date in Maryland.
