Gail Green Obituary

Gail B. Green, 77, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday July 18, 2026 while at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. She was born on January 31, 1949 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to the late Leon & Jeanette Gelinas Bishop.

Gail was a hardworking woman with a heart of gold and a zest for life. She graduated from South Hadley High School Class of ‘66. She attended many post graduate colleges and spent many years as a skilled special education teacher where she guided and supported those in need. She enjoyed her family most in life, hosting parties, doing crafts. She had a keen eye for decorating and busied herself in politics. She kept an immaculate house, an amazing cook and was a skilled gardener. In her free time, Gail could be found tending to her various plants and enjoying the area beaches. Gail was an avid tennis player who enjoyed staying active. Above all else, Gail loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed but always remembered for her quick wit, bright smile and the love she had for her family and many friends.

Left to cherish Gail’s memory are her adoring husband, Richard Green, of over 50 years, where they enjoyed their last 15 years of retirement in Myrtle Beach; her son, Dana Johnson and his wife, Sharon of Granby, Massachusetts; the apple of her eye, her grandchildren, Aidan Johnson, Shadan Johnson, Ariel Johnson & Terisha Farrell; brother, Gary Bishop and wife, Deborah of New Hampshire; sister, Cheryl Polochopek and her husband Stephen of Granby, MA; beloved k9 companion, Abbey; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

The family will gather in Celebration of Gail’s life at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576n on Friday July 24, 2026 from 1pm until 3pm.

The family would like to extend their deepest heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Tidelands MUSC and Waccamaw community hospital, as well as her true friends who really came through for her.
