Frank Johnson

Mr. John Franklin Johnson, 75, was ushered into the Presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday May 2, 2019 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on November 29, 1943 in East Bend, North Carolina to the late Charlie Hampton Johnson, Sr. & Eva Dorethea Martin Johnson. Along with his parents, Frank is preceded in passing by brother, Charlie Hampton Johnson, Jr.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mrs. Phyllis Candal Johnson of Murrells Inlet; their cherished daughter, Melody Harvey and her husband, Jay Harvey of Manhattan, NY; his wonderful grandchildren, Tabitha Harvey of Dover, DE, Jacob Harvey, Mary Harvey & Susanna Harvey, all of Manhattan, NY; his brother, Billy Martin Johnson and his wife, Linda Johnson of Clemmons, NC; niece Marcia Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC; nephew, Michael Johnson and his daughter Morgan Johnson of Clemmons, NC; a niece Crystal Ridge and husband David Ridge and their daughter Lauralyn of Kernersville, NC; his brother-in-law, Steve Candal and wife, Patricia of Georgetown, SC; sister-in-law Aimee Candal and husband, James Horn, of Mineral Bluff, GA and sister-in-law Deborah Candal-McAndrew and her husband, Richard of Dunnellon, FL; as well as many supportive family, friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held on Monday May 13, 2019 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway Murrell Inlet, SC 29576 between 2:00PM and 3:00PM. Services will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Jay Harvey at the funeral home at 3:00PM. Burial will be in Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery, 2504 S Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577, immediately following the service.

Frank’s desire was to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in all that he did. He graduated from Columbia International University (then Columbia Bible College) in 1968. His senior chapel message from that year may be heard here. Frank remained an avid student of the Bible and Theology until his very last days. An able teacher and patient friend, Frank will be missed by his family, friends and co-workers who benefited over the years from his love and careful insight.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Johnson’s honor may be made to the student scholarship funds of Columbia International University or the New York City campus of Reformed Theological Seminary.
