Frances Dolores Benston

Frances Dolores Benston, 79, of Irmo, SC, passed away in Murrells Inlet on Monday, December 28, 2020. She was born in Greenville, SC daughter to the late Frank W. Galloway and Frances Dylla.

Dolores worked more than 25 years at the University of South Carolina and she retired from Sodexo in 2019. She loved gardening, traveling to the beach and spending time with her friends and family.

Dolores is survived by a son, Scott Benston and his wife Deanna of Pawleys Island, SC; two daughters, Amy Creech and husband Mike of Charlotte, NC and Lori Ihnat and husband Huck of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren, Chloe, Caden and Stowe Benston of Pawleys Island, SC, Madison and Miles Creech of Charlotte, NC, and Grayson Ihnat of Kansas City, MO; six siblings, Susan Catoe and husband Charles of Greenville, SC, Craig Galloway and wife April of Greenville, SC, Linda Dyer and husband John of Melbourne, FL, Fred Dylla and wife Linda of Yorktown, VA, Doug Dylla of Ithaca, NY and Dan Dylla and wife Janina of Micanopy, FL.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Swan Benston, III.

Dolores’ family plans to celebrate her in the Spring or Summer when it is safe to gather.

Dolores lost her battle with post COVID complications. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of her friends and family.
