Esther Sylvia (Shapiro) Goroski died on December 22, 2025 at home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 19, 1941 to Leon and Diana Shapiro in Bronx, New York, where she lived until the mid 1960s. She was living in Norwalk, CT when she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Goroski, while working as an elementary school teacher. They courted for 3 months before she famously told him that he had to marry her or she was out of his life forever. They married on March 8, 1969. They relocated to Trumbull, CT where they welcomed three beautiful children and created an envious life together full of love and adventure. It was at this point in life where she became an avid golfer and tennis player, winning many awards in both.
In 1991, with two kids off to college, they retired to Myrtle Beach, SC with their youngest son where she became a very active member of the Prestwick community. She was dominant on the tennis court and was rightfully proud of her three hole in ones on the golf course. She was involved in numerous mahjong groups, book clubs, tennis and golf teams. Her favorite things to do were traveling somewhere warm with her husband (ideally the Caribbean or Mediterranean), spending time with her grandkids, kayaking, playing pickleball, riding her bike, doing a crossword every morning, and completing jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her father Leon Shapiro, mother Diana Shapiro, and twin brother Samuel Shapiro. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband Bob and their three kids - son Lowell (Buck) Goroski of Littleton, CO, daughter Kira Peasley of Rochester, NH, and son Darren Goroski and wife Leigh Goroski of Youngsville, NC; her five grandkids, Ashley and Noah Goroski, Baylor and Brynn Goroski, and Samantha Peasley; Samuel’s wife, Olga Shapiro; her younger brother, Elliot Shapiro and wife Marilyn Shapiro; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She will be remembered by her family and friends for being loving, kind, strong and generous. She loved her ice cream and her sweetheart, Bob. She was the best mom and nana, her loss on her family is profound; she was the leader of her family and is irreplacable. Long live Queen E.
There will be no immediate service. A Celebration in Life will be held in the spring of 2026.
