Eric J. Soper, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and formerly of Simsbury and Hamden, Connecticut, passed away on March 4, 2026.
Mr. Soper was born in New Haven, Connecticut to Richard E. and Nancy R. Nieman Soper.
Survivors include a sister, Kristin Rowen of Myrtle Beach, SC, a niece, Carly Rowen of Wilmington, NC, a nephew, Connor Rowen of West Hartford, CT and many cousins and friends in Connecticut and New Hampshire.
Eric enjoyed guitars, music, cooking, and golfing. He attended Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and was a graduate of New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont.
After graduation from New England Culinary Institute, Eric worked as the Executive Chef for St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, Connecticut. He later chose a career change and joined the US Post Office, initially in Simsbury Connecticut before relocating to Murrells Inlet Post Office where he enjoyed his work, made many close friendships with colleagues. Eric loved all the postal customers and built many great relationships with them.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday March 21, 2026 at Burroughs Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2 hours prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
